While in Maine, we watched motorboat racing.
One of the things that blew me away was the age of the racers. You had people in their late 60s/early 70s and you had kids in their early teens. And plenty of folks inbetween. They came from as far as New Jersey. Vermont. New York. All going at it. Heat after heat. On boats that, at times, had only the propeller in the water.
I became fascinated by one of the top racers out there. A fearless little girl, just 16. Lily Deware.
I thought how really wonderful it is that someone like Lily has the opportunity to participate in this sport…and compete against boys and men.
She is also a downhill skier.
Lily is an amazing young lady who I think is destined for big things.
